COACH HUSEMAN'S STORY
Royce Huseman grew up in Nazareth, Texas and graduated from West Texas State University, where he earned a degree in Business Management, Math and Education. He and his wife Kim have lived in Kingwood for 36 years. They have 3 grown children, all graduates of Kingwood High School. Tima is a teacher at River Pines Elementary, Kolby, who played on the 2005 state championship team, is the head coach at Klein Oak High School, and Colin, who played on the 2010, 30-4 district championship team, is now Kolby’s assistant at Klein Oak.
Coach Huseman began his coaching career as the assistant at KHS in 1985. In 1991 he became the head coach. He had over 600 wins as a varsity coach. He has been named coach of the year 9 times in the district, 2 times in the Houston area, and once at the state level. His teams have been to the playoffs 19 times, won 10 district titles, 5 regional tournament berths, and a state record, 3 state tourney finals in a row and a state championship in 2005 in 6A.
